Winter (December-February)
The period 1935-1975 is generally recognised in Europe as a period
of widespread cooling after the temperature peak reached 1930-1940. As shown
above, however, it was only northern and northwestern
Europe that was affected by winter cooling, while most regions in central and
eastern Europe actually experienced net winter warming during this period. The
eastern Mediterranean
region saw slight net cooling.
