Winter (December-February)
The
period 1975-2000 is generally recognised in
Europe
as a period of widespread
warming, being the result of alleged anthropogenic global warming.
The winter warming mainly affected western and northern
Europe
, while many areas around the
Mediterranean
and in eastern Europe
experienced net winter cooling or little change only. The highest net winter
warming affected an area extending from southern
Russia
, across the Baltic, to Sweden
.
