Spring (March-May)
The period 1900-1935 is generally in Europe recognised as a period
of rapid recovery after the end of the Little Ice Age. For the March-May period,
however, it was especially northern and central Europe that was affected by warmer
conditions, presumably leading to a somewhat earlier start of the growing season
in these regions. In contrast, most regions around the western and central Mediterranean experienced a cooler spring
season.
