Temperature changes in Europe 1935-1975; spring season (MAM)

Surface air temperature changes March-May 1935-1975 estimated as the difference between the simple 11yr means for the periods 1930-1940 and 1970-1980. Longitudes and latitudes are indicated along the axis of the diagram.

Spring (March-May)

The period 1935-1975 is generally recognised in Europe as a period of widespread cooling after the temperature peak reached 1930-1940. For the spring season this was true for western and central Europe , but in eastern Europe and in much of the Nordic countries spring actually was becoming warmer. Once again the western part of the Mediterranean did not follow the general temperature trend of surrounding areas, and shows net spring warming 1935-1975.
