Temperature
changes in Europe 1975-2000; autumn season (SON)
Surface
air temperature
changes September-November 1975-2000 estimated as the difference between the
simple 11yr means for the periods 1970-1980 and 1995-2005. Longitudes and latitudes
are indicated along the axis of the diagram.
Autumn (September-November)
The period 1975-2000
is generally recognised in
Europe
as a
period of widespread warming, being the result of alleged anthropogenic global
warming. The net temperature development 1975-2000 is, however, very complicated
for the autumn period. Southwestern and northern Europe was warming, while a
region extending from the Black Sea towards Denmark was cooling or saw little
change only. UK, Ireland and the Iberian Peninsula saw slight net warming during
the period.
