Temperature changes in Europe 1900-1935; spring season (MAM)

Surface air temperature changes March-May 1900-1935 estimated as the difference between the simple 11yr means for the periods 1895-1905 and 1930-1940. Longitudes and latitudes are indicated along the axis of the diagram.

Spring (March-May)

The period 1900-1935 is generally in Europe recognised as a period of rapid recovery after the end of the Little Ice Age. For the March-May period, however, it was especially northern and central Europe that was affected by warmer conditions, presumably leading to a somewhat earlier start of the growing season in these regions. In contrast, most regions around the western and central Mediterranean experienced a cooler spring season.
