Temperature changes in Europe 1975-2000; spring season (MAM)

Surface air temperature changes March-May 1975-2000 estimated as the difference between the simple 11yr means for the periods 1970-1980 and 1995-2005. Longitudes and latitudes are indicated along the axis of the diagram.

Spring (March-May)

The period 1975-2000 is generally recognised in Europe as a period of widespread warming, being the result of alleged anthropogenic global warming. The spring season shows net warming for most of Europe, with the exception of areas in eastern Europe and around the Black Sea , which experienced net cooling or no change. In general the net warming 1975-2000 was largest in southwest Europe, and decreasing in north-easterly direction. Presumably, this development has contributed towards an early start of the growing season in southwestern Europe.
